21-year-old Georgian tennis player Mariam Bolkvadze overcame the qualifying draw of US Open and made through to the main draw of Grand Slam for the first time in her career.

Bolkvadze celebrated three victories in the qualifying draw.

Mariam defeated No.8 seed Heather Watson of Great Britain 6:4, 6:2, Na-Lae Han of South Korea 2:6, 6:2, 7:5 and Shilin Xu of China 6:4, 2:6, 6:4.

Bolkvadze earned 40 ranking points and 58 000 USD by making through to the main draw of US Open.
