Georgian Sambo team took 10 medals (men-7, women-3) at the European Championship in Zagreb, Croatia.

Last year’s European champions Vakhtang Chidrashvili (57kg) and Davit Loriashvili (100kg) had the best result among the team, coached by Jondo Muzashvili. Both of them reached the highest step of the podium again. In final, both Georgians defeated Russians.

Beka Tugushi, wrestler in 68 kg weight category, lacked one victory to become champion. In final, he lost to Belarusian Dimitri Smolyn and gained silver medal. Givi Nadareishvili (52kg), Shmagi Lagazauri (62kg), Kakha Mamulashvili (74kg) and Davit Karbelashvili (90kg) occupied the third place.

Euro podium was filled only in 82 and +100 kg categories without members of the Georgian team. Overall, the team of Jondo Muzashvili is only behind Russia and Belarus.

As for the women’s team, Nino Odzelashvili (72kg) had the best result. She reached the final and lost to Ukrainian Natalia Small. Shorena Sharadze (60kg) and Irine Leonidze (+80kg) took the third place.
