Batumi is one of the main cities of Georgia. Naturally, football has a great interest there. The major problem of this wonderful city is that there is not a football stadium, which is paradox. It is a long time that the team holds home matches in Kobuleti, which creates some inconvenience. Recently, it was announced that the construction of the stadium should be started in Batumi. The models of 11 different companies were presented. Together with Georgian companies, there are Greek, Spanish, Ukrainian and Italian projects as well.
“World Sport” contacted director of “Dinamo” Batumi Otar Fedichkin and talked about the current situation.
-A few days ago, models of Batumi’s new stadium were presented. Finally, when the identity of the winner will be revealed?
-The presented companies hold a press conference of the stadiums on Sunday. The winner project will be known on Monday.
-Are you aware of when the construction of the stadium will start and how much money it would take?
-The construction should start in autumn. As for the funds, 36 million GEL is allotted for this purpose.
-Will it satisfy the standards of FIFA and UEFA?
-The stadium will satisfy all the standards.
-“Dinamo” Batumi is a recruit of Super League. Despite this, it plays perfectly and is in the top three as well. Did you expect such a good game of the team and in your opinion, on what is based its success?
-I would like to say that it’s a long time “Dinamo” Batumi has not played so successfully. It can be said that “Dinamo” returned its name back. The team has a very good coaching staff, including Shota Cheishvili and they do everything for success. We will do everything in order to make our fans happy.
-Last time “Dinamo” lost to “Guria” on October 25. After that, it’s 9 games “Dinamo” participates without losing. Which game was a turning-point for the team?
-In my opinion, in Tbilisi, the victory over “Dinamo”. We were losing to them for almost 20 years and this was very important match.
-For today, “Dinamo” is in Top three and is 2 points behind the leader. Is it possible to fight for the championship?
-A few days ago, we were leading the tournament standings. Nothing is excluded. We will do our best to finish the season in the first position.
-What is the minimum program of the team in the current season?
-Our main goal is to make through to the Euro tournament.
-Which team do you consider as the main opponent?
-I consider all the teams as opponent.
-And finally, what can you say about the future plans of the team?
-Unfortunately, it often happens in Georgia that the team becomes champion and then collapses. We do not want to go through this example. “Dinamo” Batumi will not be one-year team.
