Georgian U-16 Basketball Championship has started. 18 teams wanted to participate in the championship. Lately, so many teams have never participated in the championship.
18 teams are divided into 2 groups.
First group: Rustavi 1, Kutaisi, Samedicino, GSAU, Academy 2, Poti, Saburtalo 161, Nike, Hyundai.
Second group: Rustavi 2, Zaza, Telavi, Aversi, Marneuli, Orbi, Academy 1, Dinamo, Batumi.
The principle of the tournament is traditional. The teams will play two rounds and 4 best teams will play in play off. First matches will be held at "Dinamo" base in Digomi. This gym will host age championships before refurbishment works end in the gym of basketball academy which is in the building of Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs.
5 matches will be held at "Dinamo" in the first round. The most tense match was between "Marneuli" and "Orbi". "Marneuli" was leading during the whole match but "Orbi" won the last quarter 17:7 and finally won with 2 points difference - 60:58.
Samedicino lost against GSAU with 40 points difference but the first team of Academy won with the biggest difference. The team beat "Dinamo" 93:36.
First Rustavi and then "Dinamo" base will host the next matches.
