Two Bronzes and Team Silver Medal

 

World Chess Universiada which was under way in the city of Switzerland, Zurich finished. Georgian students Sophiko Guramishvili (2343), Tamar Tsereteli (2384), Davit Benidze (2504) and Malkhaz Sulashvili (2500) participated in this tournament. Mongolian team with 19 points took the first place among other teams. As for Georgian team, they had equal 18.5 point as well as Russian team, but according to additional index we won silver medal.
Davit Benidze who was graduated from Chess School named after Maia Chnurdanidze in Kutaisi competed well in this tournament. In 9 rounds he collected 6.5 points and with additional index took the third place. In spite of this according to master’s standard he added 20 points to his rating.
Malkhaz Sulashvili gathered 5.5 points and took the 15th place.Yue Vang(2732) of China representative of World Chess Elite became champion of this tournament. He gathered 8.5 points and was ahead with 2 points to silver-winner chess player.
Bakhtuang Munguntaal (2412) of Mongolia gathered 7.0 points and took the first place among women. Three players were half point behind her. Sophiko Guramishvi was among them. Finally, Georgian chess player won bronze medal and added 10 points to her rating. Tamar Tsereteli took the 6th place with 5.5 points.
