Lack of Experience for Victory

The third round of the second circle of Georgian Championship ended with the match between GSAU VS “Dinamo” and “Army” VS GTU. GSAU and “Army” were considered favorites in this match. Fans were expecting easy victory from “Army”, which was playing against GTU.  It is true that students lost, but it must be mentioned that the destiny of the match was solved in the fourth quarter, when the leader won t23 point difference – 35:12. Till that time the final result was obscure and no one knew who would be the winner.

The first quarter of this match was equal. The students did their best in the second half also. While break they were losing in 6 points (26:32). In the third quarter GTU reduced point difference with 3 points (42:45), but due to not having enough experience they could not do more. In decisive quarter after active playing of Anatoly Boisa, Kote Tugushi and especially Zviad Babiashvili’s (the best player of the 19th National Championship) playing managed to won young team 23:0.

Zviad Babiashvili was the most distinguished player of this match, he gained 22 points and with 12 rebounds performed double twice.  Kote Tugusho (15 p.11 r) and Giorgi Sharabidze (10p.11r) also performed doubles twice. As for GTU the most distinguished player was Lomouri who gained 14 points. It is remarkable that he dropped the most 3-point kicks (4). Unfortunately Beka Chikviladze leader of GTU could not play well in this match, he managed to gain only 8 points.

The match between GSAU and “Dinamo” also did not justify predictions. Fans were expecting spectacular and tense match. GSAU managed to win over the rival very easily and as a result it replaced from the 10th place to the 8th one.
Rezo Chachanidze of GSAU was the best in this match, he gained 19 points.
Irakli Alkhanaidze central forward of “Dinamo” managed to gain 17 points.
Journalists have named the best player central forward of TSU Ilia Londaridze, who scored the double twice (13p.19r). He played the biggest role in victory of his team. It is worth mentioning that Londaridze repeated the record of this season.
