The Georgia and the Germany national teams have played each other three times before.
The teams faced each other twice in Euro 1996 qualifying round. Besides Germany and Georgia, Bulgaria, Wales and Albania were in the group. Georgia took the 3rd place. Germany won European Championship in 1996.
Kakha Tskhadadze, current head coach of the Georgia team, played Germany as a football player. It was in Tbilisi exactly 20 years ago. Tskhadadze captained the team.
Joachim Low will play Georgia for the second time. In 2006 Germany and Georgia held a friendly match and the Germans won. Klaus Toppmoller was head coach of the Georgia team then.
After Italy and Spain, Germany is the third current world champion which the Georgia national team will face in Tbilisi. As for other world champions, Georgia have hosted England, Uruguay and France before.
The world champion arranged gym in one of the conference halls of “Radisson”.
Georgia-Germany match will start at 20:00 at “Dinamo Arena”.
