Esther Stam Reached Gold

Esther Stam, member of the Georgian female judo team, made through to final of Astana Grand Prix. The naturalized member of Gia Tenadze’s team held three fights and easily won all of them. She beat Lior Wildikan of Israel, Dilbar Umiraliyeva of Kazakhstan and Szaundra Diedrich of Germany.

In the final Stam will face Bernadette Graf of Austria.

Today Lasha Shavdatuashvili (73 kg) and Ambako Avaliani (81 kg) also wrestled on the Kazakh tatami but both of them lost the morning program.

Shavdatuashvili beat Andrea Regis of Italy (3:2). In ¼ final the Georgian lost to Sagi Muki of Israel.

In repechage Shavdatuashvili failed to Yuki Nishiyama of Japan by waza-ari.

Ambako Avaliani defeated Safarbek Murodov of Uzbekistan. In 1/8 final the Georgian judoka failed to Robin Pacek of Sweden.
