Japanese Lightness

On the first day of World Judo Championship, which is underway in Budapest, champions and prize winners were revealed in men’s 60 kg and women’s 48 kg. Japanese judokas won gold medals in both weight categories.

Amiran Papinashvili wrestled in 60 kg. He started participating from the second round. The Georgian beat Yann Siccardi of Monaco by two waza-aris.

In 1/8 final Papinashvili fell to Diyorbek Urozboev of Uzbekistan. Unfortunately, the Uzbek could not make through to final and Papinashvili lost chance to wrestle for bronze medal.

Today champions and prize winners will be revealed in men’s 66 kg and women’s 52 kg. The 23-year-old Vazha Margvelashvili will wrestle in the name of Georgia.
