On November 27 was held conclusive voting of European Olympic Committee’s the 39th general assembly for elective host city of Youth Olympic Festival 2015 in Belgrade. The capital of Georgia, Tbilisi won in this election. Today, at dawn Georgian delegation returned from Serbia and held special press-conference in head office of National Olympic Committee in the afternoon. Besides the leadership of Olympic Committee, participant singers and dancers of presentation also attended this press-conference. Gia Natsvlishvili the president of Georgian Olympic Committee congratulated this victory to everyone and then answered the questions.
“ I congratulate such important victory. The aim was achieved and now there is ahead very tense and difficult preparation process. Before the conclusive election we were working in close regime. We had to make very beautiful presentation which would be better then our opponent’s one. That’s why we avoided saying all the details in advance, we wanted it to be surprise for everyone. We held the last rehearse before the assembly and made big impression on delegates.
Our performance consisted of Georgian wine presentation and Georgian national dances of “Kavkasioni”. Besides dancing, we offered auditorium a lot of unforgettable things. According to organizer’s demands, our program had to be maximum 10-minute and we were obliged to shorten our presentation, but in spite of this Davit Doiashvili did everything very well and in a result of it everyone was excited. Georgian presentation was opened by video call of Mikheil Saakashvili, the president of Georgia. He gave guarantees of holding high class festival in Tbilisi and it gave a big impulse. Gigi Ugulava a head of Tbilisi, Gia Baramidze vice president of Georgia and Olympic Champion Nino Salukvadze also made comments and then “Kavkasioni” performed brilliant folk dances. Anna Baramidze wasthe most distinguished figure of this presentation, she call for the audience in French. It was such impressive call that most of the attendants cried. Even Vlad Divac hugged to Ann with tears in his eyes and told to her that was supporting her. Finally, duet “Georgia” performed special anthem of “Tbilisi-2015”. This 10-minute program was such efficient that reps of other delegations were coming and were congratulating victory in advance. They told us – in fact you destroyed the opponent”- stated Gia Natsvlishvili.
Before the voting, the president of Georgian Olympic Committee met Russian colleague and if we believe Russian publications, after this meeting Zhukov supported to Georgia. Natsvlishvili mentioned that was sure of their support. But said that they were waiting 29 votes and more or less 3 countries lied. But which delegation did it, it is impossible to say.
At the end of press-conference Gia Natsvlishvili talked about necessary sport facilities:
Our opponent, Brno’s slogan was- “We are ready”. This city is ready for hosting this festival even today, it was taking part in this election the third times, but was defeated again. As for us, we need better infrastructure. Olympic village will be held near Embassy of the U.S.A. Tbilisi city hall and private investor conduct it, but it is not known the exact date of starting building process yet. We will meet for discussing this task later. It is already decided that Olympic village will become University City and students will live there”.
Georgian side will make report for European Olympic Committee in 6 months.
